Reconstructing eccentric lifter of a limit switch

Restoring an original elevator switch from the 1930’s for a client

The main part – the eccentric lifter – is used to lift the two copper arms to open and close the circuit.

It had almost completely deteriorated and we built it around the small portion that was left.

Our process:
we used two pieces of micarta, machined them to shape; glued them together, secured the new part with flat head plastic screws.

Then machined again to make the original shape we were able to deduce from the pieces left.
