Why BoreRight
A line boring tool adjuster for the final cut
Getting the cutter on a line boring bar to the last few thousandths is the slow part of the job. Tapping the bit out by hand means overshooting and starting over, and a mag base has to be set up on a round bar every time you adjust.
- Jacking screwTurn the screw to move the bit. No tapping it out and back.
- Dial indicatorSee exactly how far the bit moved while you adjust it.
- Snaps onto the barA clamp, not a mag base. Snap it on at the tool bit and take it off when you're done.
- Made for press fitsWhen you're boring for a press fit bushing or bearing, a thousandth off on the diameter isn't acceptable.

How It Works
How to set the tool bit on a line boring bar
BoreRight doesn't measure the bore. You measure with a snap gauge, caliper or inside mic, then use BoreRight to move the bit by the difference for the final cut.
- Measure the boreTake your cut, then measure the bore with a snap gauge, caliper or inside mic.
- Clamp it on and zero the dialOpen the clamp, snap BoreRight over the boring bar at the tool bit, tighten it and zero the indicator.
- Move the bitLoosen the bit's set screw and turn the jacking screw to push the bit out by the amount you need. The dial shows how far it moved.
- Lock it and cutRetighten the set screw, check the dial to make sure the bit didn't move, and take the finish cut.
Prefer to move it by hand? Tighten the set screw slightly, tap the bit out while you watch the dial, then retighten.

FAQ
Common questions
What is BoreRight?
A line boring tool adjuster, or tool setter. It clamps onto the bar at the tool bit, moves the bit with a jacking screw, and shows how far it moved on a dial indicator. It's used to set the cutter for the final cut.
Does BoreRight measure the bore?
No. It's used to adjust and position the tool bit. Measure the bore with a snap gauge, caliper or inside mic, the same as you do now.
How do I know how far to move the bit?
From your last cut. Measure the bore, compare it to the size you need, and move the bit by the difference. The bit moves on the radius, so the bore diameter changes by twice what you move the bit.
Can't I just use a magnetic base and a dial indicator?
You can. A mag base and indicator will show you where the bit is, but you still have to tap the bit out by hand to get there. BoreRight clamps onto the bar at the tool bit and moves the bit with a jacking screw while you watch the dial, so you can bring it to the exact number without overshooting and starting over. And there's no mag base to set up on a round bar every time you adjust.
Will it work with my line boring bar?
Yes. BoreRight works on any line boring bar, no matter the manufacturer. If you want to check before ordering, call (224) 435-6999.
Is there room to see the dial on the job?
In most setups, yes. It's a clamp, so it's easy to snap on and take off. In very tight spaces it can be harder, so call us if you're not sure about yours.
How much does BoreRight cost?
$300. Shipping not included.
Can I buy it with a line boring set?
Yes. Add it to any order, or buy it on its own. See our line boring sets.
